Our bodies are constantly struggling to keep our blood pH between 7.35 and 7.45. We’re acid producing machines, stress produces acids, negative emotions produce acids and much of what we drink and eat are highly acidic. To counterbalance this, our systems will steal vital nutrients like magnesium, potassium and calcium from ligaments, joints, bones and organs leaving us feeling inflamed, achy, and exposed to health risks. Soft drinks, beer, processed foods, sweets and the S.A.D. diet (the standard American diet), are high in acid and low in alkalinity. Many chronic diseases have been linked to an acidic pH including cancer and candida.

One simple solution is to trade your sugary soft drink for squeezed lemon in water. That’s easy!

Have a glass first thing in the morning. One at lunch and one at dinner if you can. If you need to, add a teaspoon of honey for sweetener.

On the pH scale 0 is acidic and 14 is alkaline. The healthy blood range is 7.35 to 7.45. Anything less than 7.35 can create a condition called acidosis, which can be fatal. Cola is a 2.0 on the scale, beer is and artificial sweeteners are 2.5. Many processed foods are less than 6, dairy and meet are acidic. Lemons, on the other hand, are a 10! Vegetables and Fruits are usually an 8 or higher.
